In every corner of this room you can admire paintings and small pictures representing the mask and in particular that of Pulcinella, a typical Neapolitan mask.
The Mask contains many meanings typical of the city of Naples:
– First of all, it refers to the ironic and sarcastic character of the Neapolitan people who, like Pulcinella, playfully and sarcastically defuse any event, even unfortunate ones, by making everything lighter and less negative.
– Secondly, it represents the theatricality of the Neapolitan comedy recognised all over the world thanks to famous characters such as Eduardo de Filippo, Sofia Loren and Antonio De Curtis (the prince of laughter);
The room is furnished according to the same criteria as the whole structure, with minimal and sober lines, with the dominant colours of white, black and red-orange.
Immediately upon entering, one’s attention is drawn to a painting placed on the front wall by the famous Neapolitan artist Francesco Caliendo, (whose paintings form part of the owners’ private collection which is present throughout the house) which recalls the typical Neapolitan mask “Pulcinella”, symbol of the theatricality of these people. From this work also emerges the suffering of the Neapolitans (the irascible face that ejects all its anger chasing away the evils of the city and explodes in an eruption) all framed by superstition, typical of the Neapolitan people who, tired of suffering, entrust their fate to the hope represented by the red frames.
On the bedside tables we find other representations of the masks and in a frame framed by an LED light we can read an inscription in relief that expresses the whole. The bathroom is comfortable and spacious, containing every comfort and furnished only in the back shower with special black and white “cementine mosaic”. The materials used are of excellent workmanship and of the latest generation, such as the “Grohe” thermostatic mixer in the shower, the “FIR” design mixer on the sink and bidet, a 32″ Samsung television and “GENERAL” air conditioners of the latest generation. The room has every comfort: radiators and air conditioners.
